Craig's Corner

August 4

We managed to beat the heat for the most part at the 4th Link Urban Adventure Race. This year's race, sponsored by the FOP 29 Lancaster County Sheriffs Union, proved to be one of the best. Pioneers Park was a perfect setting for the start and finish. Teams made their way around Lincoln primarily on the bike paths and Wilderness Park with a few team challenges along the route.  Race Directors Jeff Bliemeister and Ben Houchin did a fantastic job setting up the course and making the race fun and challenging. The volunteers, including the Lincoln Amateur Radio Club, did a fantastic job and helped make the race a success.

Next stop for the NSC crew will be the Mud Run at Soaring Wings in Springfield on August 31. Then we are off to Kearney September 13, Cozad October 4 and the Warrior Challenge October 18.  Watch the training schedule for September as I will be putting on two Orienteering classes before the October races.

We are also working onthe 2009 schedule and would welcome your input as we work to make this series and related events fun and challenging. Please e-mail me at jcraig@nebraskasportscouncil.com or call me at 402-471-9710 with any ideas.

Once again thanks for a great weekend and we will see you at the Mud Run.

Keep 'Hammerin'
